Meet  Valerie Lam

My name is Valerie Lam and I am the daughter of Cambodian parents. I was born in Vietnam and my family wanted to move to the US, so we stayed in an immigration camp in the Philippines for 6 months and then moved for a better life when I was 11 years old.

At 20 years old, I started in the beauty industry as a nail technician and immediately fell in love with the relationships I made with my clients and helping improve their self confidence. From the nail industry, I grew my skills from hair removal to eyelash extensions, to mircoblading eyebrows, and now scalp micropigmentation.

Miss Betty.jpeg

my inspiration

In 2012, my father was diagnosed with cancer. When he started losing all of his hair as an effect of the treatment he was receiving, I noticed a huge difference in his attitude. He just "didn't feel himself" without any hair, as well as my good friend, Miss Betty that fought the disease as well (pictured). To show my dad my love and solidarity, I shaved my head with him to make him feel like he belonged and wasn't alone.

Years later after my dad passed in 2018, I discovered the process of scalp micropigmentation and knew I wanted to help others like my father. So I signed up, flew to Los Angeles and got my certification and training from the best of the best-- Scalp Micro USA.
